IceLink confusion - many questions

I keep hearing "trunk mount" and am wondering where in the boot the cd changer input is, is this in the side boot compartment? Is there already a power source back their too? So do you run wires through your side panels or simply tuck them away then, and if so do they show coming out of the boot panel? Does the Ice Link charge the ipod as well.

I have the Nav system, does this make any difference?

I have an 03 MCS, does this mean the song info will not display on the head unit?

When I get an aftermarket head unit (JVC, Sony, or Alpine), will the icelink still work or do I have to get the brand specific ipod adapter?

Lots of questions, any answers are apreciated.

Yes.

Yes; there are actually two plugs back there, and the Ice>Link cable connects both of them to the iPod cradle

Through the side panels. It's not difficult to fish the wires through, but you will have to bend some plastic (don't worry, it's relatively strong, and generally only held in place with tension fittings that can be pressed back into place).

Absolutely, and the amount of charging is customizable (No charge, 2-hour charge, charge all the time)

Not sure

Unfortunately, yes. And don't get all confused by Dension's literature that says you "might" be able to make it work if you upgrade the firmware--all that will do is kill the display on the iPod, and then you're SOL.

No idea, but I wouldn't count on it working.

The ICELINK for the Mini Cooper/BMW is model specific. Changing the head unit will cause the ICE LINK to not work anymore. It is only compatible with BMW units.

The cd changer hookup is probably the easiest way to hook up an icelink. I have it going under the rear seats and up into the armrest. That way its always hidden.
