Navigation & AudioAudio upgrades, bluetooth, and navigation discussions surrounding the Clubman (R55), Cooper and Cooper S (R56), and Cabrio (R57) MINIs.
Hi all,
I have a R56 JCW, with a factory fitted Harman Kardon audio system.
In March 2022, I fitted a Pioneer TS-WX70DA flat sub in the boot. This really improved bottom end 'believability' of the sound. It sounds great!
Unfortunately, this addition has really given me the upgrade 'bug'.
So, now I want to upgrade the front speakers and add a separate amp.
Now, I have a Pioneer PRS-D800 two channel amp, and I am considering fitting the Focal PS 165 F3E 3-way speakers in the front doors.
I have a question though. Where does the signal 'attenuation' take place? Is it in the head unit, or the amp?
Will me connecting the amp and speakers only 'amplify' the poor quality attenuated signal from the head unit, or does this attenuation take place in the H/K amp???
Will me buying an amp, with DSP processing, be my only option??
Many thanks.
