2003 mini cooper S upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade the sound system on my mini. I have the HK system so I'm looking for some product recommendations.

1. I don't want to spend more than $500 on the system.
2. I want good loud sound.
3. I'm looking for suggestions for front and rear speakers mostly. I already have a head unit from another car I can install.
4. I have a sub already. but I do not have an amp to power it. so an amp recommendation would be great. This is the sub I have http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...n-AW1206T.html

Note that if you want to upgrade the HK system, you need to run new wiring, as the HK wiring all runs through the amp in the rear quarter panel.

If you scrap the HK system you could probably increase your budget by selling it off. The door woofers are HARD to find at best and the AMP can get you between 300-400 depending on how many are out there when you sell it.

For under 500.00 it will be a chore. Your looking at 1 BIG amp or two smaller ones. That can eat up 500.00 in a hurry for quality gear.

If your keeping the HK amp remember that it uses 2ohm speakers and you will need an enabler if you change the head unit. Those are getting hard to find also.

I started a thread "my audio set up" in there you can see my plans for my set up.

I sold my h/k amp with all the speakers for $425. That paid for the arc audio 125.4 mini amp from integral audio. Kevin at integral audio is awesome to talk to and has a great price for that amp. Plus, he has a bracket that will mount the arc audio amp in the factory h/k location. No need to run new wiring, youll just need to run 2 wires from head unit for rear speakers as h/k set up only ran a left and right signal to the amp, not lf rf, lr rr.

Anyways sell the h/k stuff to pay for a good amp. Then spend no more than 200-300$ on good front speakers. Rear speakers are just for fill, so absolutely no reason to dump $$ in the rears.

Im actually going to put jl 6w3v3 subs where the rear speakers were. You will be able to get a nice set up for your budget.
