Tachometer Digital Speedometer

2006 R52 S

My Cooper has the navigation package which I have removed to install a custom phone mount (phones are much better navigation tools than a 2006 nav system). The on board computer can display info on the tachometer digital display and has options for outside temp, range, ave consumption and average speed but I'm missing current speed. I believe this info was displayed on the nav unit. I'm wondering is there a way to get current speed on my tach display?

Thanks!

Hi just doing the same route. Did you add a stalk to activate the OBC? Going from a sat nav car and replacing the screen so will lose the on board info. So. Thinking of moving it to the Rev counter

I ended up building my own custom speedometer using an arduino and small LCD screen. It plugs into the OBD port and I pull the on board computer speed and display it on the screen.

That is cool. the only issue I have noticed is my LCD doesn't light up. so maybe I need to run a power cable to the lead??

If the unit is getting power and other backlights are working I doubt it’s the harness. The LED backlight might be out on the specific screen. You could replace the unit or open it up and replace it yourself. Never done it myself though.
