2nd Gen tachometer digital display

ok so there are two areas of digital display on the tach. i like how you can change the info shown on the lower display to current fuel mileage but hate how when i do this, the upper display used to show your current speed is changed to temperature. who came up with this brilliant idea ? why would anyone ever need a constant temp display in the main display area ? when will temp ever be more important than speed ? this quirk really bothers me as it makes changing the bottom display useless. i realize the big speedo still shows speed but actually using that thing while driving is impractical and unsafe.

i suppose my question is has anyone figured out how to change the bottom display while keeping the MPH display on the upper digital display box ? i know its a long shot but its worth a shot.

Mine's set to display my current speed, and below it what temperature it is outside as well as ... uhmmm.. something else. I can't remember.
I think the big speedo is fine. I can use it without any problems when I want to switch up the display.

As for your actual question, I'm not sure. I just keep pressing the button on the left ... stick (don't know what you call it, sorry) until I find something I'm happy with. I change it often since I can never make my mind up haha. Sorry for not being too helpful though..

The quick answer is "No" WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get.

I also want to know who came up with this brilliant idea! It's simply poor design, unfortunately.

right ? why should changing one display affect the other ? not only does the upper display change for no reason, it removes prolly the most important info displayed and replaces it with two almost useless pieces of info, time and temp.

ive called MINI with a few compliments already. i think my utter disbelief with this nonsense may prompt my first negative call.

I think they call it the signal stalk. The other one is the wiper stalk.
