CD eject with no CD installed

Just recently my 07 MCS started to run like it’s trying to eject the CD. I don’t have a CD installed.
Today, i went out at the end of the workday and it was trying to eject again.

Search says its a bad car battery but I can’t believe that.

Any ideas? Can I just put in a CD and it will stop?

I don't have first hand experience, but have read reports of mysterious issues due to dying batteries/alternators causing low voltage.
