Unichip Smartauto Carplay + Android Auto Interface installed

Hi, so i have just installed a Unichip Smartauto Carplay Interface. it also does android auto.
Overall it was very easy to install. I am very happy with the end results.
There are some android auto navigation issues...when i say navigation i mean getting around the interface. i have outlined these in a video to Unichip and hopefully they will fix this in a firmware update
Some photos below and also the YouTube video about the interface navigation issues:

I want to do this^^

What did you use for your new speedometer display and Android chip? I'm new to this, and can conceptualize exactly what you did. I see some eBay auctions for the speedometer upgrade, but I don't want to end up with a cheap Chinese knockoff. I want the Android auto connection, not some third party, or BMW, excuse for Garmin🙃

HI Derrick, this is an interface that goes inbetween your factory navigation 'brain' and the factory screen.
the entire factory system is still there and functions 100%
These are the guys that make it... http://www.unichip-tec.com/
A video of the install and use on a mini is here:

Navtool make a similar unit and you can chat to these guys here: https://www.navtool.com/

Let me know if you have any questions.
From an android auto standpoint....there are some problems i am working through with Unichip. See this video for one of the major issues:
the other problem i am having with my Pixel 3 and this unit at the moment is AA comes up with a black screen a lot! How often? well i would say 50% of the time so far!!! this is bad and i will report it to Unichip. I'll post here the results...

That unit from Aliexpress does look good! Its certainly cheaper....
But the Unichip productes are well made. Version 4 hardware is now way better than the one i bought.
i dont have this car anymore. i bought a 2020 Clubman!

Sharing my experience with NavTool--I would not recommend them. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...l-warning.html

I reached out to Navtool via email to get some details on a compatible product for my MINI and installation steps. The reply I got was a red flag to me! See below quoted from my email.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your message because of COVID-19 we are understaffed after you make a purchase you will access to support team”

I haven't updated my thread yet, but will when it is resolved. I've disputed the charge with my credit card company.

Hope you get it resolved through your credit card company. I just called a local audio shop and they have also had bad experiences with NavTool- DOES NOT WORK!

Sorry for the slow response. Haven't had much chance to do anything lately other than work and sleep.

Went through the whole process with the credit card company, after the vendor refused to provide an address to return the item for a refund. CC company gave me full credit for the purchase. I'm not sure if they collected back from the vendor or not.

I have no idea if the product works. I do NOT recommend. Their website is filled with raves about their superior customer service. My experience was significantly different.

Unichip for CIC only

I bought the Unichip and took it to a local shop to install this and some other goodies, but I found out it is not compatible with my 2009 R56, as it has the CCC head unit. The Unichip is for cars with CIC head unit only.... bummer
