I swapped my basic grill (without space for Tweeter) on the rear doors of my F60 with these grills.
The project is complicated & not advisable for the time & labor involved.
Each door is held by 3 screws & once the door panel is open..
Step #1 Break the many plastic welded tabs that connect the grill & the door plastic trim to pop off the old grill.
Step#2 Cut the well market circle in the door plastic trim to accommodate space for the tweeter slot of the new grill.
Step#3 Insert the new grill & align all the tabs into the previously broken tab slots of the old grill.
Step#4 Choose to plastic weld or superglue the tabs into the plastic such that the new grill is locked in its place.
Step#5 Pop in the new tweeter into the grill & connect & test.
Step#6 Put back all the trim & screws back as original.
The project is possible but tedious & laborious.

There is no option here for this upgrade becoz BMW has "Machine welded the plastic of the old grill to the plastic of the car door inner trim".It needs to be cut out and the same holes are to be used to push the new grill into.

The BimmerTech Amp is from German maker "MATCH-Helix" and model PP86DSP 8 channel Audio & more powerful & more ways to custom. It is many times superior to the HK stock amplifier by BMW/MINI.

Two dixie cups and string are better than HK amp.

Seriously tell us about all those funky upgrade trim pieces in your car, they are wild! I feel like I'm on an LSD trip looking at those.

I’ll be getting that amp first then.

Wild is an understatement!

This thread is fascinating because it looks like the JCW I will be ordering will not come with HK. I was hoping to upgrade to Alpha One and order their HK replacement kit, but I wanted to make sure that all of the wiring was there to accept the kit. It looks and sounds like this is the case, right?

Hello all, a massive bump after years,

We have a F54 with Base Audio. It sounds like just upgrading the speakers is not cutting it. I am thinking about changing to aftermarket amplifier prior to everything. Because the signal being sent to the rear speakers is just prefiltered and really weak.

How logical is this? I am planning to continue with the speakers from there,

Thanks,

Ömur
