Any hope of MP3 playing in the CD ? Now or at a later, but not to distant date?

Sure, all you have to do is replace the cd player with a cd/mp3 player. The current model, of course, could never do it.

See my note regarding the iPod. It's relatively the same an as MP3 player and could be set up the same way.
I know my info isn't technical, but i am sure it can be done.

I would update your head unit. Don't get me wrong, the stock stereo is very very nice... but it still lacks in some departments.

I'm definitely upgrading mine to this... Alpine in dash CD player CDA-7995. It supports MP3, CD-R/RW, and XM Radio (getting XM radio for sure). You can find it retail for about half what this page says for price (this whole line of Alpine decks are very very sweet!)

My cheapo solution that I use in my current car with a tape deck, is to use a Phillips portable CD player that reads CD-RW's, and just burn what I want to listen to. It's not as convient as a MP3 player, but it is easier, and cheaper...

Actually, I'm going for the CD player myself anyways... I'll probally pick up a converter so I can plug it into the system...

I bought an adapter from blitzsafe that hooks up to the CD changer cable in the back of the car, then I ran an rca to mini phono cable up to my mp3 player. It works fine.

I've read that the 2003 MINI Coopers will have MP3 connectors!

Woot!

Now my only question is color...
