Roady Pictures

Hi All,
I am planning to get a Roady/Roady2 device, but I am not sure where and how is the best place to mount it. I know I will have 3 sets of connectors coming out on the side (antenna, power/lighter, and audio output). I worry that it may look messy. Does anyone have good pictures showing the installation of one of these babies? My Aux Input is below the toggle button in the nook there.

I do not want to use the FM transmitter thing as sound quality is extremely lousy in the NYC area.

Thanks,
Nando

I have a Roady and plan on doing the following:

Mount the Roady using the LoBoy mount from www.Pro-Fit-Intl.com

I plan on putting it on the drivers side corner of the dash board behind the inspection sticker. The LoBoy uses a 3M sticker that can be removed using a hairdryer.

All the cables can be nicely tucked away and hidden completely.

I was going to wait for the SkyLink for the SkyFi but gave up, I think Blitzsafe dropped that project. :(

How can you hide the wires neatly? Where do you run the wires thru..?? This is the part that concerns me the most. Having it look extremely sloppy. I think Best Buy has car installation services, I would most likely go to them to install the antenna and run the wires. I would also like to have the power cable be hardwired directly, and leave the cig lighter free for my cell phone.

Any feedback on any of this is appreciated. I have zero experience dealing with any of this stuff.

Thanks,
Nando

With no experience it would probably be best to let them do it. However routing the wires is easy. You just have to slip it under the carpet, molding etc.

This was also discussed in another link. I attached two images of my installation using a cigarette lighter mount.

I adapted the mount from an old cell phone holder. Here is a link to a mount that might work. It's hard to tell from the picture how it actually works. What do you think?

Lots of drawbacks...

The only problem here is you lose the use of the cupholders, and if you have any other devices (radar detector, cell phone) that need the plug you can't use them. Plus, you have to look down to see it, not safe. I would stick it on the dash just behind the wheel to the right of the tach.

There are some drawbacks to the method for sure. The solution in my MC was the MINI parcel shelf which I added a 12 volt outlet to. The hardest part was drilling the hole in the shelf for the outlet but only because I didn't have the right size bit and didn't want to run out yet again to buy one.

The entire install took me 45 minutes tops and cost me not more than $125 for everything (parcel shelf, power outlet, add-a-circuit w/fuse, and wire).

As for how to cleanly run the wire, my guess is Best Buy will run it down the dash between the door and the dash, it can even be tucked into the rubber gasket quite easily and without tools.
