Navigation & Audio Question regarding my AMP and speakers
Question regarding my AMP and speakers
Here is my system I have installed
AMP: Helix Match PP82DSP
Spec
http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/en/pp-82dsp.html
Speaker: Focal K2 Power 165KRX3
Spec
http://www.focal-america.com/product/165-krx3/
My audio said my speakers could get the full benefit from the amp, it works, but not fully to the speakers potential. Can someone explain this to me? Does it worth to update my amp? How much less I am getting from the speakers? I also have a JL sub 10w1v3 with JL JX1000 just to show you the complete picture

I know this is an old post, but what he means is that your 4 ohm Focals can handle 100 watts (continuous), but your amp only puts out 55 watts (continuous) at 4 ohms. So you could get a much more powerful amp with the same speakers if you want.
Thanks for your reply! I have been waiting for this.
So I will get a better sound quality if I change my amp that could handle 100w (continuous) at 4om? May I ask will that be a big difference?

It depends on how loud you want to play your music. If you are going to be frequently pushing the limits of your 55W amp then definitely upgrade. The closer you push your amplifier to its limits the more distortion it will create. Distortion is what kills speakers. That's why it is usually recommended to have your amp (continuous or RMS) power rating higher than the speaker (continuous) power rating.
Also remember that twice the watts does not mean twice as loud. Google an explanation of watts vs decibels (dB). 2X the power gives you 3 more dB. That's definitely noticeable; what you mostly gain from more power is accuracy.
If you are worried about how loud it is, go to a stereo shop and ask to hear a 55W amp through a speaker with a sensitivity of 93 dB. Play with the volume to see if it gets as loud as you want without cranking the dial.
I hope this helps. I am by no means an audio expert, but I like research.

Thanks for your detailed explaination!!
One more question, from what you said is it true that if I don't turn up the volume too much, the sound of the current setup is probably the same as a upgraded amp with more powerful Watts?

Yes, that should be the case assuming the 2 amps have similar specs. Another place you might ask is Crutchfield.com. They carry your speakers and amp. I have purchased a few things from them over the years. Give them a call or chat online. I have always found them to be very helpful and informative (even if you don't end up purchasing the system from them).
