Yes it is normal. Look in your manual and it will tell you how to able and disable it.

You can vary the ammount it compensates for speed. I have mine on full and it seems just about right.

I >THINK< you prees and hold the note button until it says LINIAR VOLUME (or somthing similar) the press it one more time. The scale goes from 0-6 if I remember correctly.

That's all from memory, sorry!

I think I saw a link posted on this site where you could download the Official and Unofficial Owners manuals for the MC and MCS.

Can someone post that link again. It's sad that I've downloaded both manuals...and don't even have my MCS yet! But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to get by while you're waiting!

I wish the speed-compensating volume was tied into the sunroof. I find when the sunroof is closed, I prefer the compensation to be at the minimum or next to the minimum as the MINI is surprisingly quiet. But with the sunroof open, the compensation really needs to be closer to the max. Otherwise going over 70mph with the sunroof open requires me to blast the stereo but at a stoplight, it's way too loud!!!

I'm trying to get this feature to work. I go through the adjustments, have tried setting it at 1 and at 6, but don't notice a the volume adjusting as I go faster. Do you have to activate it?

It works fine in my MINI... I actually had to turn it down from 6 because it was too loud at speed with the windows up, and no fan on.... but now it's getting colder out, i'm running the heater often, i'll probally turn it back to 6..

Acutally, I believe it's tied to the sound level within the car, not the speed. I say this because mine gets louder if the windows or sunroof is open, but doesn't get much louder at all when all is shut down. I'm set at 6.

I still haven't noticed any difference at all with mine, no matter if I set it at 1 or 6. So far its the only thing I haven't figured out or that doesn't seem to work right. Its so easy to change the volume on the steering wheel its not a big deal, but would like to try the feature.
