Installing a sub and amp

I have a lot of browser tabs open of various NAM threads that are giving me tips for how to do this install, but I still have some questions and was hoping to get some advice.

I have a 2009 base model hatchback with the 6 speaker system. I just upgraded the door speakers last week, and I'm keeping the stock 6x9's for now. An amp and sub will be arriving via UPS tomorrow.

Sub - JL Audio CS110-WXv2
Amp - Alpine MRV-M500

First question: since I'll be adding the sub, is there any reason to do the front/rear swap?

I'm not really interested in waiting for Integral Audio's harness to become available, so I'll probably just go ahead and splice into the X9331. But since I'm not the most experienced car audio guy in the world, how exactly should I do this? I know where it is. Just need to know how to attach my wires to it. Please explain in layman's terms if you can. Photos would be even better.

And I keep seeing recommendations to use a fuse as close to the battery as possible for the power wire, but would I need to with this Alpine amp? It already has two 30 amp fuses.

Thanks for any help!

Oh cool. It wasn't a couple days ago. Thanks.

It would still be nice to know how to do it without that though, in case I (and others) don't feel like spending $100 on it.

a fuse close to the battery is a must imo.depending on how your amp is mounted the amp fuses may not be accessable

You can tap a LOC into the harness at that point, but far cleaner to have something you can remove, that includes the LOC.

You can always resell it when you sell your MINI!!

Honestly I would just buy the adapter for $100. I know that may seem like a lot but theres a lot with that adapter.. its just so much easier to plug and go with the rest of your install.

Thanks for the tips everyone!

I actually took a different approach. I discovered a handy feature of the amp. "For the 'Speaker Level Input System' setting, connecting the Remote Turn-On Lead is not required due to the 'REMOTE SENSING' function of this product." So I decided to use the crossover from my components in the door that I installed last week for the signal to the amp. Wiring from the door into the car wasn't the easiest thing in the world, but it worked.

All in all, it was a success!
