What a beautiful write up you've put together. Very thorough and the quality of the pictures is superb. Just seeing the inside of the door so clearly and knowing where all those tabs are will be a great resource to have.

I just ordered JL C5-650s and have been looking everywhere to see about mounting tweeters in the upper 3.5" location. Now how do I get my hands on a set of those 3D printed tweeter adapters? Seriously. Or are there any other solutions to mounting a tweeter there?

I hope my JL crossovers will fit in the door handle! That would be so convenient in a car where space is at such a premium. Thanks for the idea and thanks again for the write up and pics.

I am getting my system installed tomm. Best and first option is to mount the tweets flush or surface mounted in the pillars or someplace on the dash, will let you know how that pans out. Door mounting is a last resort as the sound will not be nearly as good. Volume wise any mount should be fine as I have 100wattx4 for the front components and rear two ways and 350 watts for the 10" sub. Will make a post with pics once it's in as I am replacing everything not just speakers.

Right, ideally I would be mounting the tweeter closer to ear level but I worry about time alignment having the tweeter so far away from the woofer so I thought I'd at least try a door mount first. I've been planning to buy the A-Pillars with the tweeter slots but if there is an easy way to door mount them I'd be happy to try that first.

Where are you mounting your amps?

If it has to go in the door will just fab an adapter. Single digital amp under passenger seat since mines a r57 I do not have the cubby in the hatch.

No room in stock pillar so had to put the tweets in the door. Components and rear speakers plus head unit along with two additional USB charge stations insralled. Subs and amp going in next week as we changed which amp I wanted so have to wait for it to come in.
