Audio question???????

I just started another thread yesterday about my fitting 2005-2006 on my 2004 mini copper s. Well this morning installed the new tail lights and this what I found in the boot compartment when I opened it up to install the passengers side tail light. I posted a photo below. It looks like instead of my Harmon amplifier they installed an eclipse head CD player head unit. I'm assuming the app died and this was the easy fix. My factory radio is installed through the aux of the head unit in the boot.

Wow, that's a really screwy set up! I can't imagine how that made sense to whoever did it...
