Broken USB port
Well, I have an issue: The little plastic "divider" into which the four terminals sit broke out of the USB port in my 2007 Clubman.
Couple of questions:
1) Is the "open" side of the port to the right or to the left? It appears to (have been) to the right. I have the plastic piece, so if I can straighten the one metal terminal, I may be able to put a tiny dab of glue onto the aft end of the broken piece and slide it back in place.
2) Has anyone been behind the console to replace this terminal/port? If so, can you direct me as to how to make the repair? How hard is it to "get into" the console? It appears to be snapped, not screwed together, which doesn't bode well for trauma-free DIY repair.
All pointers appreciated.

You ae taljking about the USB port that sets below the toggle in the front console?
Snaps out and then a new one snaps in.
There is one type for the :
Hands-free system with Bluetooth
or
Cell phone prep., Bluetooth + USB/audio
& another type which looks the same for
Music interface for Smartphone
Last 7 didgits of the VIN will help also with what options you have for the stereo.

Thats ok .
Where you able to get the tab to hold. If not you can pop the old unit out and pull the 11 digit part number or give me your last 7 didgits of your Vin and the options above. Externally they look about the same , it the internals and back that are different per options.
Thanks and glad that helped.

Did you get the part number for that?
The USB is on the left and the aux in is on the right I believe when installed, and of course when replacing the one with that option for your MINI.

Broken USB Port Question
I saw this thread and have a question.... I broke off the tip of the jack from my portable xm radio cable in the aux port side of this thing. I see that your , ( ECS Tuning) sells them. My question is, is there a tool or tip/trick to getting the old one out without damaging the dash area? Not sure how to depress that tab to get it out?

You can depress the front on side with a little flat head screw driver, while pushing the unit out with your hand from the back. Try one side then the next.
Thanks and good luck.

Its you look at the pics the aux in only has a different plug set up vs the USB / USB select-able. You might be able to tap into something inside of it.

It was mentioned earlier in this thread that the auxiliary input socket just 'snaps out' and the new one 'snaps in'. I've been looking at it in my 2011 Mini Cooper S Clubman and I can't see how to snap it out.
I've attached a photo of the socket. I see that there appears to be some sort of access hole to the left (right in picture) of the socket, but looking down in it I didn't see anything useful. Do I just pry the socket out by working something in around the edges? Or do I need to remove part of the center stack fascia to get to it?
My AUX audio port needs to be replaced so before I ordered the part I wanted to know what I was getting into labor wise. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
