are these my antennas? FM / AM

still in need of help, as i have not gotten the same answer twice.

i removed my original sirius antenna, which of course removed my FM / AM antennas on my radio. no surprise, the FM comes in like crap now.

trying to add a replacement antenna, as i have found a "window" antenna and BMW adapters on ebay.

while tearing the car apart to install GTmat, i found these:

i believe these 2 wires go up into the roof, and reckon they in fact attach to the OEM antenna i removed. they are hooked up to the sirius amp. any chance these could be the elusive FM / AM antennas? anyone think i can unplug one of these wires and use said adapters and window antenna to fix my FM reception?

Those are for the Sirius antenna. Your am/fm antenna goes either to your radio or if you have nav, your tuner module. The fm/am cable has a black fakra connector.

Here is a diagram to help for the antenna up to 7/2004.

This is for the R50 / R53 .

"trying to add a replacement antenna, as i have found a "window" antenna "

What are you trying to do project wise?

well, i ripped off the stupid looking sirius sat antenna on the car. as stated before, FM reception is crappy now.

ive also ripped the rear quarter panels out of the car to put in GTmat, and i havent seen anything like in that picture...

id like to replace the stock antenna (assuming ive also removed the FM antenna along with the sirius one) with this to get my reception back... (i have an 06 jcw with HK sound system and sirius sat)

those antennas might work, but i wouldnt use them. a standard antenna is 31 inches long. its that length for a reason. its 1/4 of a wavelength. also having a good ground plane is a must.the windshield/window mount antennas are just amplified so it is possible that it will work for you. your oem radio was tuned to work specifically with the oem antenna, so changing one of the components might give you results you were not expecting
