hissing from speakers long after shut off

2011 S, with HK. After shutting off the car, I continue to hear a hissing sound from all speakers in the car. I have sat for twenty minutes waiting for it to end, and it never seems to stop....almost as if the amplifier is not shutting down correctly.

Dealer claims this is normal, however my 2010 justa with HK never did this, so I am skeptical.

Any clarification would be useful.

I am sure it is normal, don't worry about it (unless you are coming back to a dead-battery car). It does take 20+ minutes for the car's computers to shutdown.

Thank you for the opinion. Battery not dead in the morning, but certainly slower to turn over and fire up than it should be. No one else experience this? If no one has, then I don't think it is normal, obviously.

I do hear the hissing (amp on) for about 25 or so minutes with the HK amp I just retrofitted.

The HiFi and Base also do this at many of the "chimes", "noises", "alerts" etc are generated by the head unit and the only way to play them is to have the stereo and amp on.

Try this.
1.start car and open window in a garage if you can
2. shut car off
3. you will hear the hiss.
4. wait about 35-40 minutes.
5. without using your remote or opening a door listen for the hiss - it should be gone
6. open a door and shut it again - hiss is back.

At least that is the way it should work.

It can take as much as 60 minutes for the computer systems to go into a sleep mode.
And if you have a bluetooth phone connected to the stereo then it may never shut off if you leave the bluetooth phone is not disconnected. MINI keeps it alive so if a call comes in then it can be answered.

Seems strange but that is how it works
