Replacing 3 Pin Connector with Butt Crimps

I received an iPod interface for my 03 MCS as a Christmas gift. My plan was to swap out my CD changer in place of the iPod interface, which was perfect since the CD changer hadn't worked in some time. Upon removing the CD changer I found that the 3 pin connector on the wire harness was broken, which explains why the CD changer wasn't working. My thought is, instead of trying to track down another 3 pin connector, which seems no easy task after an initial web search, I would simply connect the 3 wires directly to their counterparts on the iPod interface wire using butt crimps. Before I start, is there any reason why this is not a good idea? Any advice/insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Try to solder the connection if at all possible. Most hand crimps will not hold up long term to the vibration in an automotive application.
