For those of us who have MINI connect and an iPhone, there is good news on the horizon! We all know that on a phone with the bluetooth MAP profile, you can read your text/email messages on the MINI screen. iPhones, however, don't support the MAP profile. But FINALLY, Apple is adding the bluetooth MAP profile on iOS 6! This means us iPhone users will be able to read our texts/emails on the screen!

If your iPhone is jailbroken get "display out" to see all from your phone on the screen, then let Siri read and write for you

On a side note anyone want to make a bet as to how long for BMW to release a new iphone dock with the new iphone 5 dock slot? I guess 8 months!

It seems like MINI/BMW need to release an update that will support the iPhone before it will actually work. This should work with the Y cable right?

Yes, it's through the plugin. It mirrors your phone so nav and even weather radar show. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

 

This is a big let down. If it does work I can't figure it out. What am I missing? I can not even find anything in the mini connect screens.

 

Enable it under the bluetooth setting in connected for your phone.

 

I enabled show notifications under the Bluetooth options on the phone. Do you need mini connected to be open to get messages on the screen?

 

I can't get it working either :( I've enabled every option in the bluetooth options of the car (phone, audio, office).

This is the only reason I upgraded to iOS 6. New maps sucks harder than anything ever put on a phone. I want my streetview back! I have an iPhone 4 so pretty much every other worthwhile option supposedly isn't "compatible" with it.

 

i figured it out.. it's pretty lame. Once you enable "show notifications" when you click on your mini in the bluetooth settings on the phone, "new" text's will show up in the Office application on the nav. The only notification you get of new messages when you're not in office, is a little mail icon at the top of the nav next to the signal strength icon.

 

I got the car to list "messages" and "current office" but both are empty and have no messages displayed. I received 3 emails while driving but none showed up :( I didn't get any texts but aren't emails supposed to work too? That's the part I really want.

 

I only got it to show text messages.. Hopefully mini will come through with a big update soon???

 

Yep, I just got a text while driving and the little envelope popped up in the status bar, so I've got texts working. It makes me sad that emails don't work :(

It is pretty cool that the car can read the text to you, but I wish you could replay with one of a few preset responses.

 

cant seem to get text messages to work enabled show notifications on phone, any help would appreciated.

 

What finally worked for me was enabling notifications in all Bluetooth connections--including those for other cars.

I got the little envelope to show, but I do not get to see any of the messages. When I go to the office app I get "No messages" with the icon. SO CONFUSED.

Actually the large pictures are great. Screen is slightly different for Verizon but I could clearly see the page I missed. Thanks gonna try today.
