Has anyone installed all replacment speakers with the 6x9's and component front swap out with thses speakers?
I see the depth on the front are 2 5/16 deep and the stock mounts show 2.25 inch.
im sure i can rig the stock spacers and gut the speakers out of the plastic.
But I also want to know if anyone likes these speakers.
thanks!

I put in reference 6000 components in the doors and 692.5 kappa rears.

The speakers are great, especially the rears. They really sing.

The front components I found to be in need of an amp to really use them to their full potential.

Also Infinity speakers are rather bright, so if this is not something you want, you might want to look somewhere else.

Here are some pics of my install ... with a custom made spacer I made for the door.

I put the same references in the front as lurch70 but put 693.5 kappas in the rear, with the fronts and rears powered by their own amps.

lurch: I have to say I don't think that's a good place for your crossovers - water will run down the inside of the doors onto them. Most people have stuck their crossovers just to the rear of the woofer. There's room under the door card for it there.

Yeah .. I realized that after installing them  Luckily it is velcroed so I can move it easily. So far had some serious rain and snow since install and all is fine though.
Will move them when I have a chance.

hmm. I was going to try and stay away from getting an amp. I just want a nice set of well rounded replacment speakers that will hold their own as a complete set. with a good headunit.
wonder what I should get

Don't get me wrong, the Infinity is far superior to the factory speakers even if you use them without an amp. The stock head unit is pretty powerful in its own to drive them ... I just feel the front components would do better with more clean power from an amp.

my main reason to do this is actually to have a mp3 cd player. So, i figured I would just clean out the whole car and get all new setup. but an ampless setup.
im sure if I get a good HU I can set all the EQ stuff to sound good.

I am sure as well ...

You can always add an amp on as a last measure if you are not happy, but I think you will be.

In order of replacement:

1. speakers
2. radio
3. amp

Speaker swapping will always make the biggest difference, in my opinion anyway.

It's been my experience that an amp will make the greatest difference. Speakers play what you pass them and if you pass them distortion then they play it. Great headunits will make a very positive difference but, an amp will wake up stock speakers. (I will also admit I know nothing of the stock speakers in my Mini they could be utter trash but, I doubt it.)

Head Units these days are always claiming 40wattx4. There is just no way without terrible distortion. If they could make a 200W amp and put it in a head unit the damn thing would catch on fire. Seriously, look at a real 40Wx4 amp. They are large and cased in thick metal to disapate heat.

When looking at amps only look at RMS watts at 12-12.5 volts and %THD (distortion rating, lower the better)
