I'm getting a 3-4 second delay before my speakers come on when I turn on the car. Anyone else get this, or did I feed the power wire into the wrong fuse?

This is normal for that amp to power up. I've noticed it's slightly longer when it's cold outside.

Since I have the HIFI version in my 3/08 build MCCS, which has totally different rear speaker layouts, would it makeany sense to put in 2 of these style amps, and just use them as power boosters from the anemic OEM amp? Then I could upgrade speakers at my leisure.

I purchased a "add-a-circuit- fuse holder form the parts store (Autozone, etc) for about $7. You will also need about 4 feet of wire ( I think it is 12 guage) to extend the amp's power lead. I crimped the extended power lead onto the "add-a-circuit" power lead. I then pulled the Radio Fuse, put the "add-a-circuit" in the radio spot and put the fuse into the "add-a-circuit". The amp is just secured up under the dash with zip ties. BE SURE NOT TO OBTRUCT THE BRAKE PEDAL, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD AFFECT CONTROL OF THE CAR! Also, no need to worry about the amp heating up, class D circuitry runs very cool, and will not be a problem with ventilation.
First of all, many thanks for your write up! I had abolished the idea of installing an amp in the front (in order to avoid running several wires front-to-back and back-to-front) but seeing your post made me re-consider.

Could you please elaborate on where exactly behind the dash you placed the amp? What did you fasten it with zip ties to? Is the space there sufficient to use a different sized amp with dimensions: 50 x 145 x 193.6 mm (if I am not mistaken 2" x 5,7" x 7,7")?

There is plenty of space behind the lower panel underneath the steering wheel, but I fear accessing it (i.e. getting hands in there) will be difficult. Also, I didn't see anything there (or elsewhere at the driver's footweel, in fact) to fasten the amp to. I only used my phone to take a video of the area behind the lower panel and the area around and above the pedals so I very well may have missed a good spot.
