MINI NAV System - What is this icon?

Hey everyone greets from the UK

My new MINI cooper arrived a few days ago from the dealers, still getting around all the various options as its the first time I've had the MINI connected / NAV option.

Since new MINI's with the connected feature / NAV apparently don't come with any kind of manual (Very helpful!) I'm trying to figure what this icon is:

http://i47.tinypic.com/sziv7o.jpg

It kind of looks like a USB Symbol but I'm not sure what the -10 means, earlier today it kept changing from -7, -8, etc.

Does anyone know what the icon means? It only appears when my iphone is connected.

I thought it meant the signal at first but this is shown as bars at the top.

Many Thanks

Did you have your mobile device connected via usb?
I see the negative mystery number too outside the nav screen. I connect my iPhone via bluetooth and the number is -1 to -10 when the phone sits in the cup holder and up to -48 when I leave it in my pocket so I'm thinking some sort of signal strength reading when a device is connected.

Haha! My girlfriend and I had this very conversation, we realized that it was the track number of whatever you are listening to. This was after many minutes of puzzlement.

That does not sound right as there is not reason for the number to be negative in that case and why would it change if it was put in someones pocket. That would also not explain why it was changing up and down for the OP form -7 to -8 and back again. If it was that it would change in a sequential sequence all the time.

I am more inclined to think it is the Bluetooth Signal Strength. If the phone is connected via USB or not the Bluetooth is used for phone calls at all times. So this would explain the low negative number when someone puts it in thier pocket.

Pretty sure it's the track number; that's not a negative sign in front of the numeral, it's a dash. You could read it as "USB input, track ten" It changed in your pocket because the bluetooth is considered a different source than the usb, and so won't necessarily play the same track. I think it gives you a different symbol for the bluetooth as well. Try playing from a CD and it works the same way (and gives you yet another source symbol). If you're listening to the radio, it'll show you the frequency. You can also toggle this display off.

It won't be sequential if you are listening to things on random.

Could be track number. I listen to podcasts on my phone outside the car so when I leave it in my pocket it picks up where I left it track wise; most likely higher number. If I take it out of my pocket it is to start a new artist selection which probably has a lower number.
