NEWMINISTUFF upgrade in...

What a difference.. Bought some Polk DB651 co-ax for the rear and DB6501 components for the door. With their harness/amp, I didn't have to rewire or touch the factory head unit. Now I can actually hear my bluetooth with the top down for a change. If anyone is looking for an EASY button, this is about as easy as it comes, the rear speakers were a PITA...

They were good about asking me what I was doing and how I wanted the amp wired up, and shipped it pronto...

No, just their Amp and Harness set up. Figured it was easier plug/play and I only had to ground it and run one hot to the battery.

Ah I thought it was the whole kit since they have one with the Polk dBs.

Hey Formel1,

I just ordered the same kit - I was wondering how you routed the cables - I ran the power cable tonight through the firewall but i have not pulled the seat out yet. I was more interested in how you routed the speaker and high level inputs. Did you run them under the dash to passenger side and down the side trim? Did you take any pics?

Thanks in advance!

Unit will install under the passenger seat. You have to cut a section of carpet out where the tray is at. The wiring harness then runs under to the side, down past the fuse box, under the front passenger carpet section, then there is a small gap in space you can feed it through behind the radio/dash, then down behind the gas pedal block, carpet and to the access kick panel in the driver side where it all plugs in and you are done.

I grounded the ground to a metal nut in the tray. There is some component already installed in mine, so it made made for a nice chassis ground.

Mine has a cover there. I think it has a styroform insert in it - but I will know for sure tonight.

Excellent! that was my plan but I wanted to make sure it was the path of least resistance.

My new amp is in!

Install went good except for one issue - the cables were about a foot too short! I guess I ran them a little differently than what is normal? Anyway - i just extended them with some 16 gauge speaker wire. I also put in a inline fuse block which gave me another point to run heavy cable to my powered sub (I was using the rear charging point power). All in all - it sounds AWESOME. I have sooo much more clean bass! My wife even noticed the increase while in the house!

Thanks to Mike at Newministuff for making this as painless as possible. And thanks to Formel1 for the advice.

PS - I had a Styrofoam block under the cover under the passenger seat and what appears to be hook ups for a satellite radio.
