Installing Powered Subwoofer

I apologize if this has been covered elsewhere - please direct me if it has. I drive a Mini 2011 Cooper S.

I just purchased a Bazooka Basstube for the trunk. It is a powered unit. My main question is, am I going to need to do very complicated acrobatics to remove the head unit, etc. in order to properly get audio to this baby? Or since it is powered, can I simply hook up to the audio signal from one of the rear speakers? Or is there another way to do this?

My second is how do I power it? In the past (an old Volvo stationwagon) I ran a power wire all the way up through a small drivers side hole and actually powered off the car battery. I have seen a few things here about using the cigarette liter.

Thanks a ton

Howard

You can connect it to the front speaker wires in the driver's kick panel. There's tons of write-ups on here about it. TomFarin's write-up is very well laid out and should make your life a lot easier. Do NOT use the rear speakers. They're high-passed so you'll get no bass from your Bazooka.

you can search on X9331 as that is the connector you will be dealing with.

This only the case if you have the Base System, if you have the HiFi or HK system this does not apply.
