boost stereo has lights but display and everything else dead

Ok, so I've searched everywhere and tried everything the past 3 days and have not go my stereo to work again. I pulled it out to install and amp a few days ago but before even doing so my radio stopped working. It has power (lights up when I turn on head lights) but the display is dead. Anyone have any idea? I need some music before my long drive to my new duty station : /

Sounds like the fuse on the back of the head unit is blown

Yes, if that did not fix it then check the connector between the speedo unit and the head unit if that is good then you probably blew something inside it.

Did you already check fuses in the fusebox? What model/year is the car?

Its a 2007 "s" When we pulled the system out we pulled the face plate of the cd player unknowingly pulling out the connecter "strip" between it and the odometer. I've reconnected it, to the best of my knowledge its a tight as will get.

I've also checked the larger strip that also goes between the odometer and cd player.

What could I have done to blow the whole stereo just by pulling it out? Also would the led lights for the buttons surrounding the display and led's on the cd player itself still light up? Or are they being powered by some other connection?

Oh and yes. I checked every last fuse that I could find, on the passenger side and under the hood.

The head unit is a very complex computer and in NOT just a radio, it is also the Central Car Computer. It has connections to all the different modules in the car.

You could have easily (if the power was not disconnected) shorted something when trying to put the connectors back together.

If the battery was disconnected and any connector was not together properly then when the battery was reconnected it could have caused major problems.

As some of the lights on the unit are part of the lighting system not the actual radio of cd then yes some can come on with out the radio working.

With out being there to look at it my self there is not much else i can tell you except that maybe you should pull it out again and recheck 100% of everything to make sure the connectors are back together correctly.

If it does not work after that then sounds like a trip to the dealer.
