Ipod Adapter Issue

I have an ipod adapter i made sure it was connected to the back but still not working. i keep reading that i have to bring it to the dealer and have an update install? is this true or its just not gonna work.

if you just installed the kit, you (go to electrical mod section and lookup NCS) or the dealer will need to program the retrofit.

how much does it cost to have it programed?

depends on the dealer, but my guess is probably about $100

Im using an ipod touch. when i called Mini they said it could be that im using an ipod touch and not a regular ipod. is that the problem?

No, that's not the problem. The iPod adapter won't operate at all without programming.

Just making sure we're talking about the same thing... you have the OEM iPod adapter for the dash compartment, and you installed it yourself? This one: http://motoringfile.com/files/R56_ipod_boost.PDF

i called and asked about the programing they said its just not the programing its an update of the whole car and it might fix it. is this true?

Actually that is true, in order to code the retrofit, the dealer really has no choice but update the entire car (many hour process) before performing the retrofit process in ISTA/P.

ok then i guess 100 bucks wont be so bad since it updates everything
