So, i 've got an amplified subwoofer and the kickwell connection speaker splice loom from Mike. Can i connect the sub to the 12v socket in the trunk or i 'll have any problems?
Well i purchased the 2nd gen kickwell connection speaker splice from newministuff.com.
Its plug n play to the X9931 connector and has right and left channels (cable).
A line towards the battery, remote amp turn on at the boot's cig lighter and ground anywhere at the car... Easy fit.
Well it depends on what that ligher/socket is rated for. At max power (200W) it could be pulling 14.2A (P=I*E, 200=I*14V, I=14.2A) or there abouts...
Not sure I'd do it...
That's a good point - I looked at the small-gauge wiring going to the socket and decided I wouldn't ever use it to supply any high-drain electronics, especially since the battery is in the trunk anyway. If the options were either using the socket or running a long wire from the trunk to under the hood, then I might be tempted to give the socket a try. At worst, you'll blow the socket fuse and then you'll know you have to try something else.

It's an R56 (battery in front), but I agree that it would be better to run a separate power line.

Thanks for clarifying that point - I didn't know whether all of the R56 cars had the battery in the front, or if it depended on model, like the first-gen cars.
