With many of us thinking how best to integrate an iPad or Android Tablet to our cars this one with a removable Tablet that acts as the interface to the Head Unit could be the perfect match.

With this set of specs it can do most of what we are looking for. The only thing that I can think of off hand that could be better in these specs is for a larger USB hard drive attachment, 8GB is small.

Fascinating. If only I did not have that big dinner plate of a speedo with that strange proprietary radio built into it. I know people like it, I however don't. Would rather have a smaller speedo and the ability to add a head unit to the stack.

 

There are a good number of people that have removed the OEM radio and there are threads about it here on NAM. YES there are some functions that you loose but it can be done.

You can also get a cable harness setup from Japan that will put the oem radio in the secret compartment so that you keep all of the display info on the radio but at last check it was like $300 USD to get one.

 

You can also just tuck the OEM radio behind the speedo and not lose any functions. Then all you need is a ribbon cable.

Lots of options when it comes to radio installs.

 

I am not sure what the overall depth is in the dash but with this unit at a full 7.22 inches deep it may be tough to fit the OEM unit behind this. Many of the other 2 Din units available out there are only about 6.5" long (some are longer but not many)
