Navigation & Audio Need Opinion !

Need Opinion !
I have an 06 MCS, and just put in my XM on a custom bracket
almost behind the ignition. Hate that spot.
I looked at all of the other installs, and Im not loving any the spots I saw others use.
I decided Id like to put it above the glove compartment, passenger side as there is alot of real estate. I pulled off the panel, and see 3 screws, but think that area may be off limits because of the air bag right above
If that area is reasonably safe, I thought Id fab a bracket up so that the radio is below the top of the dash (See attached)
Anyone think that this is unsafe ?
