AUX input - extra wire - Help?

So I set out to install the AUX input today by following the very detailed instructions on minicarparts.com (http://www.minicarparts.net/Instruct...structions.cfm). Everything was going well until I went to connect the AUX connection to the back of my radio. Everything I've seen shows this clip on the back of the radio to be open, without wires however mine had a pair of wires attached (see photo - it's the clip and wires on the left). Do I have something extra that I don't know about? I disconnected and it didn't seem to make any difference that I could tell.

I think the factory CD changer used that port as well. Maybe your car had one - is now gone - but they didn't pull all the wires out.

from another listing for the aux port kit

IMPORTANT** ... does NOT work on any year Gen 1 MINI with the stock Cassette deck OR the 6 CD changer installed (if you unplug the CD changer it will work though)!!

Do you have navigation? The connector is used for navigation audio. Instructions for how to deal with it here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...lled-pics.html

Not true. The CD changer uses a different port. Aux coexists fine with it.

I guess Outmotoring is wrong on their product description page then . . .

I had neither the cd changer, nav, or the aux port. but did install a few aux ports with nary a problem . . .

now don't cornfuse with the Ipod interface - that's a different beast
