If anyone is interested, the seller in the eBay link will make the cables to any length and fitment you need. Someone mentioned that the newer Boost radios had a 40-PIN connector so I ordered two 40-PIN cables, 0.50mm pitch, 400mm long. One regular and one inverted so I can try both and see which works better or if there's a difference at all. Best part, under $30 shipped for both of them.

Can you post more pics of the Alpine in the car (including the dash & interior) - to get a figure of the looks compared to the original?

Btw, for whoever that had the steering wheel integration; how did you make it happen with the aftermarket module ? I can't find on the internet how you make the buttons work on ur gps/stereo double din

What about that?
Seems a little more but less hassle.

Why pay this much when you can just get the kit and stuck ur CD behind the speedo ?
my worries is the steering wheel integration ... anyone did it ? Do we need another part to keep them ?

You can get an adapter for the steering wheel controls to work with your head unit, or you can run your new head unit into the aux port of the existing stereo, but it will only control volume. I choose the second option, so I kept factory bluetooth and voice control.

Thanks - could you say that agail pls
If I don't get an adapter, what do I need to do ? I didn't get what you say.
basically,
*I would want the iPod to work directly with new unit but still change song from steering wheel
*bluetooth d voice control to work with existing and therefore steering wheel button
*volume button controlling the new unit

is all this possible at once ?
(btw, did you lease ur cruise control at all)
thanks for the help

I have numbered your request above.

1 and 2 are not possible at the same time. If you have an adapter that allows your new unit to be controlled from the steering wheel, your factory unit will not be controlled from the steering wheel. You would lose bluetooth and voice control.

What I did was leave the factory system inline and completely functional. My aftermarket head unit's output is ran into the AUX input on the factory stereo. If I want to listen to FM, I would use the factory system. If I want to use my nav unit/sat radio, I switch the input on the factory stereo to AUX. My aftermarket head unit is not connected to the factory stereo or speakers in any other way other than being plugged into the AUX port.

By doing it that way, bluetooth and voice control work as stock, muting the audio when a call comes in. I don't change my sat stations often, so that feature of the steering wheel controls wasn't important to me, but volume and phone control was. Just my preference and what worked best for my circumstances.

Thanks
I guess I will have to make some concessions here... if Iam buying at double din unit, Id like to use most to all of the options on it.
So I guess my option would be to have the iPod working through the double din device, still be able to change the songs though...and have the bluetooth form the double din too...but won't have the voice control or answering button from it.

Im looking into getting a Clarion NX700
would this solve on my problem --> adapteur

The Axxess ASWC is what you should need to get the steering wheel controls to function with an aftermarket head unit.

I picked up the following for my install:

Metra 99-9309
Axxess ASWC
Metra 40-EU10
Ebay cable

All for around 100 bucks with free shipping.

I see. Quite a difference in price.

I do not have the steering wheel controls. I would just like the double
din radio because it has all the stuff built in, better sound, more features,
and maps.

I got one of those units for my wife's SX4 and man, it is fantastic. It does
15 things but we only use about 4.

Tanks. I checked the website, the clarion adapter for the wheel integration is the same price as the one you mentioned.
Only thing...Iam in Canada, have to pay $40 more than someone in the U.S for this to be shipped and taxed to me ...

this kit is exactly what you need its just a company called installer parts just putting the package together to make it easier for people. its the same price as a package or seperately, I highly reccomend installer-parts.com i ordered my stuff monday morning and it was at my doorstep tues. Not only that they answered every question i had and actually saved me about 50 bucks in overnight shipping. the only thing you would still need is ribbon cable that you need to order from thailand on ebay. Sketchy to say the least..

Would the Axxess BMRC-01 really be needed if i'm installing all new everything, replacing the head unit, speakers, wiring, amp...EVERYTHING. I don't care about the factory chimes or any of that crap.

Tried looking on that installer-parts.com website...don't see a complete kit anywhere...all they list for the Mini is the physical dash kit part.

I already ordered from sonicelectronix.com but figured i'd scope that site out for other stuff.

Well my install has been pushed back. Was hoping to do it this weekend but I won't have my new headunit until monday...and no sign of the cable I ordered on ebay yet.

How long did it take those of you that ordered from that guy to get it?

My cable is "on its way" lol
The tracking that was provided only tracked the package until it left Thailand...who knows where it is. Its been 10days,probably another week is reasonable.
All my item are on their way anyway. Purshace the metra, antenna and steering wheel integration from Sonic electronic, very friendly customer service. Shipped it to my friend that will ship it to Canada for me. Waiting on my Clarion Nx700 from California.
Wanted to get a camera too ,if Iam (or a tech) doing the install, why not pop a backup camera with the cable

Lol figures...after posting that, I get one of the cables this week. I ordered one of the 32 pin cables in 400mm and one of the 40 just in case. I got the 40 pin one today.

Without tearing everything apart...how on earth can I figure out which one i'm going to need? Or should I just wait until I have the other one too?

I'm also hoping however these cables attach to the factory stuff I can re-use clips...or whatever may hold them in place?

I have no idea, someone posted that they ended up needing a 40pin so I got paranoid and ordered both. But the seller messed up and only shipped one. So I have to wait another 2 weeks to get the other one.

I have the HiFi system upgrade so i'm hoping 40pin is what I need(since that's the one I got in the mail)...but I honestly don't know.

2007 Double Din Install-img_0382.jpg

2007 Double Din Install-img_0381.jpg
took 14days to come to Canada; which I think is not bad at all, paid on the 31st of January and received it on the 14th.
Bought a 400mm long cable (ask the seller to make it longer) - it is a 32pin cable. Now I hope that I didn't need a 40pin one ...
As someone previously asked, how do you use the blue clips ??
