antenna

Does anyone know if there a product out there, vendor or home made that deletes the antenna. Not the base but just a plug where the antenna threads in. Wen I carry my surfboard on the roof I have to take the antenna off, and I have a aftermarket alta shorty antenna. I already forgot once and hit the antenna with the board and broke the base which has since been replaced. Im not to worried about reception since 99% of the time I use my Sirius. Only thing I have come up with is find a short bolt with same threads, but that would look cheezy. Any ideas?

I just leave mine off because I use the roof rack for furniture and snow boards. Reception is fine for FM and bonus non-RC look.

something resembling a bumper plug might work.

There are all sorts of little rubber covers for allen head screws (like on BMX headsets), but no clue where to get em at

On previous MINI I just put formed silly putty so that it was flush and spay painted the base white, had to touch up several times but it worked and kept water out. It was fairly easy to come out too. Current MINI I just replaced with 2004 OEM Sat Nav Antenna. Still waiting for nut that holds it in place from Prestige MINI but that's a different story. Here is some pics:

Here's my idea for an easy solution: get an antenna from a Honda (like a Fit or s2000) and chop it down to 1/2 to 3/4" (whatever works to clear your boards). Local junkyard might be a good source. If your fussy like me, I'd sand the tip round and give it a shot of black spray paint.
