Anyone have an amp mounted above the battery in the boot?

When I first had my stereo installed, the shop installed an Audison LRX 5.1k, at least part of the amp has to hang over the battery, there was allot of noise... if the amp is moved at least 12" above the battery, no problem..... I am wondering if anyone else has had amp noise issues with the amp so close to the batter? I currently have PDX amps to the far right, no noise right now.... but want to upgrade my sound.... thanks!

One of my amps is above the battery and no engine noise. You can see pics in my gallery. Not sure if the 2 layers of HD partical board on the box insulates it or not.

I have had two systems in my car and one had the amp directly over the battery. The first was this setup by Diamond Audio which is available .

This is what is currently in the car and has a Rockford Fosgate amp to the left and one 12" earthquake sub to the left .

I had a small amount of noise when the system was on and nothing playing but as soon as there is a signal the noise was pretty much gone . The strange thing i s the battery is now behind the rear passenger seat on the floor and I have pretty much the same noise so it was not battery related .

Randy, very encouraging! I have no idea why that first amp I tried had so much noise... looks like its time to try again! Also, what is that black box for? Reminds me of the box some company has for turning your manual transmission into a stepped/sequential, whatever you call it, transmission...

You have a good eye as that is exactly what the box is for . It contains the solenoids for the sequential shifter system .

Thank you sir .... One of theses days I will have to try a mini with that setup in it... I think the only real issue, is where to mount it.. I actually put my seats down sometimes ..... You are in LA? Maybe I could come out and try your car?
