2011's with Connect or Nav- working correctly?

the 2011's with the new Mini Connected are out now so I am looking for feedback. Who has there up and working and can see album art, video's etc.
Looks to be lots of trial and error out there. Mine is coming in later this week and I was going to get a new Iphone to go with it. Not sure which one to get that will work in the armrest adaptor that is coming with my Mini. Info from Mini is scheatchy at best and seems lots of frustrated owners already. Many are hooking up the old way. For the $1000 upgrade I will be expecting it to work properly and not jury rigged like I have seen some with 3 adaptors and a ball of wire. Who has it working right and what do we need to have?

Hello,

I have this and I must say, it's working perfectly!
I own a iPhone 4 and I connect it to the car using the front USB-port at the bottom of the center console. There is no iPhone 4 cradle (!) yet, so I can't use the armrest. I've tested the MP3 playback and this is working properly WITH album art, which is very nice. I will test movie playback soon. If you want me to test out some things, just ask.

My car came in yesterday and I picked it up late yesterday. Still playing with it get it figured out. My Droid was was easy to get up after a couple of attemps by the side of the road. My phone list is there and the voice command works great. Dealer said I will need to get the special cradle for
the armrest for an Iphone. I do not have and Iphone yet and was looking for waht to get and what cradle I will need. I thinkyou answered my question.
Get the 4 and wait for the new cradle. I will try my wifes new Nano this morning to look for the Album at. The whole system work very good and amount of information is amazing. I forgot how much I missed Sirus. HK sound systems rocks and the phone is much better than my 2010 was. Car also has much less road noise. I love the Connect. Makes the interior.

Oh can you check something for me then? I also have a USB-port on the right (In the thing you need to open with that chrome button). I connected my iPhone there as well, but it wasn't recognized. I'm wondering if it'll work with an iPod...

I'm not sure and I will attempt to research later when I have time but I think the phone cradle will not do anything for your audio. I'm thinking, unless they changed it from 2008 that the armrest phone cradle was to only charge the phone and to allow the phone to use the MINIs antenna. I'm thinking that the phone/music player has to be connected to the USB cable only for the Connected/audio to work. Hopefully, this is not true but....

I think this changed with the facelift (2011)... Can be wrong though

For selected mobile phones, the BMW
Group offers USB-Snap-In Adapters
(only in combination with option code
6NE), that additionally connect the USB
port of the mobile phone with the
vehicle. An USB Snap-In Adapter
additionally allows to access to audio
files stored on a mobile phone. The
tables below shows for which mobile
phones a USB Snap-In Adapter is
available.

Source: PDF from MINI.
It also states that the snap-in adapter for iPhone 4 was going to be released November 2010 (I don't know it's available now?)

Yep, you are correct. I was able to look up the Countryman's manual finally and saw that. I'm so happy they did that finally because it only makes sense.

Yeah, I'm eager to test it, but there is still no snap-in adapter available for iPhone 4... I read somewhere it'll be March 2011...

According to the Owners Manual that came with my 2011 Clubman, the USB port in the glove box is for updating the NAV system (page 102: Updating the navigation data)

Oh ok
I was thinking to permanently put an iPod in there, but there's no such possibility then...

My iPhone also has all functionality with only the USB-cable plugged in.

Are you getting album art without using the 2 prong? Looks like we will need to wait for the cradle for the Iphone 4 for charging.

Can you confirm that for cars ordered with MINI Connected come with the Y cable (USB + Aux Jack)?

Maybe in the US but I had to pay for mine here in Germany . I wish my MA had told me about that. I also found out that the regular USB adapter that comes with your igadget also works (go friggin' figure) . I have not been able to get the video portion working with my iPhone 4 though . Anybody had any luck with this so far?
