Santa Claus just brought me a present ---- an unsolicited (i.e. free) 2003-2 upgrade CD for my NAV system. Wonder if anyone else received a similar gift.

Note -- the comment relates to the older CD-based system like on my 2002 MCS and not the newer DVD based system. The disk I received is for the Mid-Atlantic/New England Region #6.

I got one too! I thought it was related to the nav issue I've been having - the system reboots when I drive through a certain area. I kept telling the dealer it was a bad disk but they wouldn't replace it - they tried everything else, including updating the firmware and taking away the british female voice...

SO I calloed my service advisor and thanked him for finally ordering a new map disk for me - and he said he had nothing to do with it.

Could it be that this is an automatic thing?

Now I need to search the archives and find a way to make a backup copy of this new CD. I'll use the backup and keep the virgin copy in the house...

No freebie disk yet (but I have not received a single free item from MINI anyway). You can copy the CD-based disks as you would any normal data CD and the computer will read it. I made copies of mine and keep the originals safe at home, seeing they are so damn expensive.
