I haven't had the car for 4 hours yet and I've already done something wrong.

I was futzing around with the NAV menu trying to get it to speak in a british voice (it looks like it may be impossible without a firmware update (downgrade?)

Now the MINI logo doesn't appear! Agh! I've got to show this thing off to co-workers tomorrow and the cool logo doesn't happen anymore. Man that bites. How can I fix this?

Second, I installed chrome trim throughout the interior. The lamest ones of all are the ones surrounding the hazard and dimmer buttons. The chrome jobbers are like Lee press on nails or something. You just slide 'em on and they are so small they get stuck...permantly...leaving about a quarter inch gap between the button and the edge surface of the chrome thingy. Anyway, the dimmer button now doesn't work at all. With or without the chrome attachment. My dealer will laugh and charge me for repairing it so I'm ocming to the friendly folks here and NAM.

Thanks MINIclo.

I looked high and low and couldn't find anything on a missing MINI logo, except someone saying the latest firmware solved that problem for them. Mine's brnad new so I can't imagine it needs an update yet.

I also just noticed that the volume level change doesn't work. The NAV girl voice stays at one constant level while she says "softer, softer, softer", or "louder, louder, louder".

Sounds like I need to see the dealer tomorrow.

Not sure what you did to loose the MINI logo, I've never heard of that happening short of installing the firmware upgrade.

Now, I have heard of volume adjusment issues. Although they are rare, so consider yourself special! You will need to bring it in to the dealer to look at it. I believe the last person who I saw that had that problem had a defective Nav computer...

So, Kurtster.......what happened? Did you speak with your dealership about the NAV issues and the vendor about the chrome trim rings? Just curious....

Well the MINI log disappearing is intermittent apparently. The logo reappeared the next day and has since vanished and reappeared of its own free will!

I've not gone to the dealership yet to address this, the volume or the dimmer.
I'll provide an update soon. It's really hard to get into the dealership during business hours.

I have the nav system and in the year that I have had my mcs the MINI logo has failed to come on about 8 or 10 times. I don't know why it happens but the screen won't come on again until I turn the car off and even then it usually doesn't come on right away. It's only been a minor annoyance so I haven't reported this to my dealer.

The mini logo comes on after opening the driver's door AFTER the car's been turned off, locked, and unlocked. If you're just sitting in your car, not running the motor, etc. playing with the nav, it's not going to come on. I had this problem at the beginning too. As long as you just use the car as you normally would (getting into the car after the motor's been running, locked, etc.) it will come on with very few exceptions. So it's probably not a problem.
