OEM Processor - Which one?

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to get some feedback as to what processor would be best for the MINI. I am installing on an 09 JCW Clubman with Boost (non hi-fi).

I have it narrowd down to 3 choices that are pretty similar in price:

1. RF 3Sixty.1
2. Audio Control LC6i
2. JL Cleansweep

I will probably be hooking it up to a JL 900/5 amp to drive 6.5 components in the front, 6x9 in the rear and a 10" sub in the boot.

All those who have had experience with these product, please let me know how you like it (or don't like it!).

All votes would be great.

Thanks for all your feedback.

For those of you who have installed an aftermarket system, do you have any feedback on the processor you used?

I want to control the volume with the stock HU (steering wheel) so I dont think the cleansweep will work well without using the JL volume control.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, they're showing up in the car for a reason. You can't delete using the Mini if it's reading the phone's SIM. You can surely do it from somewhere, just Google and go. There's probably some dude on a YouTube video doing it while watching NFL football.

I have the cleansweep and it works fine with the volume on the steering wheel.

That being said the HU in the mini is pretty darn flat...there is little or no difference in SQ when i hit the "bypass" mode on the cleansweep.

So what is your reason for wanting to go with oem integration compared to just buying an amp that accepts speaker level in?

I bought a cleanswep for 2 reasons...i didn't have speaker level inputs on my amp...and i was thining hat the grass was always greener.

If i could sell my cleansweep i would Its not needed in the mini cooper.

Thanks for your feedback.

The amp I am looking at only has line level inputs so i would need a processor between my HU and the amp. There is a lot of "hype" around the cleansweep and what it can do for your factory HU. I am interested because of the "flat signal" it produces. However, I have heard tat some people have complained about noise, hiss and pops when not using the provided master volume control. I want to use the HU volume ****.

The other option I am looking at is the Audio Control LC6i. This is a very good unit for delivering high quality line level input to an amplifier. Judging by your feedback, this may be the best route. Anybody have feedback on the LC6i?

The third option I have been looking at is the Audio Control EQL. It has 2 channel high level inputs that I could feed the front speaker HU output to. From there I could manually "flatten" the signal like the cleansweep does? Any thoughts. It would also give me some EQ capability once all the speakers are installed for some tweak-ability. Feedback please!!

My plans are to leave the rear speakers high level output out of the system all together due to the 100hz rolloff.

I would like to use a 5 channel amp that is fairly small due to the lack of space in the boot. I am looking at 6.5 components in the front, 6x9's in the rear and a sub in the boot. The amp I am looking at is the JL HD900/5. It only needs 2 channel line level inputs to feed all 5 channels. The only problem i a m having with this amp is the price! Any other suggestions are very welcome.

Next will be speaker options....

Thanks again for all your feedback.

no issues at using the HU volume....you might lose a little dynamic range at low volumes....but no noise or pops or anything noticeable...you just set it up so that your "sweetspot" is the place on the volume **** where you set it when you calibrate the Cleansweep.

Well the statement about the 209 radio being "Flat" is very untrue if it sia Base System. As for the HiFi system it is flatter but still not great.

The Base system rolls off below 100HZ on the rear channels very badly. Check this thread for more information.

I know about the rear rolloff. That is why I will be using the front channels for my system.

Are the fronts relatively flat?

i don't use the rear speakers

And with the front speakers there is no difference in SQ between the Cleansweep on and the Cleansweep off.

How do you know it fixes the rear roll off problem if you are not using the rear speakers?

because thats what it is designed to do...the roll off on the rear at 100htz is not "severe"....and the CS is designed to fix much worse problems than that.

Plus think about it in terms of your system....why would you need the rear speakers to play below 100hz anyway? Your sub will be playing most of that. So you are going to want to crossover the rear speakers at 80hz anyway...mini just did you a favor

Rear speakers are fill at best....did i mention i HATE rear speakers..they kill your front stage.

OK, OK,

you sold me!!

Thanks for all the info. So you have had no noise problems at all with the cleansweep. It is a good unit but you don't think it does much for the MINI because the output is very flat from the HU. Is that correct?

How much do you want for it!!!

I have the LC8i and it works great with my car. Stealthy look and you can add an Auxiliary input which can be controlled with the sub volume. I use it with a DLS A5 3 channel amp and works great.

I am thinking of using the new OEM integration unit from Genesis here in the UK as it is around £80. Newministuff also do loom that connects to the OEM HU and gives RCA outputs to allow connection straight to amps or a processor then amps.

That's the route I am going.
