Auxiliary input on H/K system
I have read many postings on purchasing the Aux input connector for a mini (this one)
http://www.minicarparts.net/Parts/M3367.cfm
I wanted to know if anyone managed to get this to work with a mini with the H/K sound system. I think I have the stock head unit (but I'm not 100% sure). I have a 2004 MCS with the upgraded H/K speakers. I just purchased this vehicle and I am very anxious to get my iPod running on this. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

That is the correct cable to use.
The instructions on that site will work but are more complicated than necessary. It can be installed without removing the radio. You can pull down the drivers side knee panel, then reach around and plug the cable into the lower left corner of the radio by feeling. You can put the jack end at any location you prefer, not necessarily in the glovebox.

I have used the aux input on my 05 MC, I have the H/K upgrade. It was my understanding that some radios do not have the aux input jack on the back. I think the year they started putting the jack in was in 2004. Do you know if you have the jack? If so, it should work for you! Good luck!

What's the cutoff point for that? I have an '03 MCS, and it would be great to have an input for an MP3 player or iPod or something so that I could easily transport tunes. CDs are a pain to deal with....
TIA!

Depending on your build date. The radio from my old July 2003 with Harmon Kardon had the aux port in the head unit. Also, a friend and I installed the MINI ipod cables and he has a build date of Feb 2003, also had the Harmon Kardon system. Check your built date, probably have it.
Another option would be to purchase a "Dice" kit if you have the CD changer wiring located in the rear. Open up the rear interior trim panel in the boot on the passenger side the wiring should be their.
Cheers,
I have an iSimple cable that connects the iPod / iPhone to the cd changer hook-up in the boot. If you don't have a cd changer the plug will be back there capped off from the factory.
This cable works great and let's you control your iPod through your steering wheel controls. I don't need it anymore because I upgraded my stereo system and my iPod connects directly to my Alpine head unit.
If anyone is interested, I'll sell it for $60 shipped.
