How to get iPhone 3GS integrated in 09 Mini w/o bluetooth/ipod factory install?

Hi there,

Apologies if this info is already out there. I'm having trouble finding exactly what I need.

I just purchased a new Mini 09 today. Wooo! It wasn't a custom order so it is missing some of the options I'd like.

It has:
Multifunction Steering Wheel

It is missing:
Any bluetooth and iPod features
Center Armrest

I have an:
iPhone 3GS
an iPod as well

I would like to have the bluetooth controls on the steering wheel hook up to the iPhone, charge it, and use the music controls if possible on it. If I can only use the phone feature without the music, I can hook up my iPod as well. I'd like some clean solution that I can hook up without wires all over the place? What are my options and what should I be doing? Should I get and install the center arm rest, then what else?

Thanks all for the potentially redundant question!

Well To get the Control of the iPhone or iPod from the MFSW you will need to go factory equipment. That is very expensive if not installed at the factory as there are a few modules that are needed an very possibly a few wiring harreneses. Cost is around $1440 to $2700 for parts alone. depending on which wiring harness is in the car. I.E. if you do not have the arm rest then the wiring harness for the armrest is missing for one. With out bluetooth/USB the bluetooth module is missing and the wiring harness for the USB/AUX input is missing.

I do not know of anyone that has come up with a module to use the factory wheel control as of yet, at least easily with out a lot of custom wiring. If you find one let us know.

As for getting bluetooth support for iPhone and music from iPhone there are a nubmer of posibilities. Parrot Bluetooth, Scoche Bluetooh and Motorola Bluetooth. Unfortunately all of these will require wiring of some sort. Most of that wiring can be hinden from sight but just means taking parts of the dash apart. Unfortunately all of these also have limitations.

The Parrot is the one with probably the least limitations but is also the most expensive.

There are a few threads where people have sue ddifferent units. The folowing thread has some info you might be interested in starting at post 14 on.

Your other choice is to trade that car in and get one with the bluetooth/usb option.

Also, if you're looking through other threads, I've suggested the mObridge unit, but it looks like 2009's aren't supported...

Probably the webpage is just out of date. EAS says it works on all 2nd gen: http://www.europeanautosource.com/pr...oducts_id=2148. In some ways the integration and features actually seem to be better than the OEM version (e.g. faster and no 255 song limitation in iPod playlists), but it's expensive.

I would think the Maufacturers web site would be more correct as it states that 2007 and 2008 MOST bus and 2007 and 2008 I-Drive (ones with the control stick) are supported an then very specifically states that "MY 2009 is not supported at this time". Eventeh manual that comes with it states that MY 2009 and 2010 are not supported.

The EAS site is probably the one that is incorrect.
