RIP Billy Mays
Jupiter Jack was one of the products they followed on the Discovery Channel Pitchmen series. It was pretty entertaining. The original name was BlackJack but it was already trademarked. In the middle of shooting the ad with another name, they discovered that it too was already taken. They simply made up the name "Jupiter Jack" on the spot and reshot the ad. The ad is done in a car that is riding on top of a moving trailer. On review, Billy Mays didn't do a convincing job of pretending that he was driving, and they had to redo the entire ad. I couldn't stand Billy Mays when I first encountered his ads, but I warmed up to him from the Pitchmen series and now I'm sorry to see him go.
