Iphone 3Gs mounting ???

I'd like to hear a bit more from those of you who have an Iphone and have mounted it. I've read everything I could find in this forum but I think we need a bit more info to fill out this discussion. I can't decide what to do, I'd like to have my Iphone mounted up high where I could keep it in view while driving, but the suction cup on the window idea does not work for me. I'm open for ideas so let me know what you are doing, what is working or what has not worked. Thanks in advance...

Kuda mount with their PDA cradle that goes between the Speedo and the dash on the drivers' side works great for me.

I don't even need to run any wires to it - have the Kensington Bluetooth LiquidAUX plugged into the AUX input for music and phone over Bluetooth (works great with iPhone OS3.0). Microphone is not of the best quality so for longer conversations I pick up a Bluetooth earpiece.

That probably was a bit more info than you asked for :-)

No that's good. I want to hear from people who are actually using a particular set up. After looking at the Kuda website I am not sure what the mounting entails. Did you have to drill any holes? You have this mounted on the drivers side? I guess you have issues with space there?

Does that device automatically pair with your your iPhone when you enter the car? By the looks of it, I assume it draws its power from the cigarette lighter (aka, doesnt require charging)? How's the sound quality?

I am personally using a SE MBR-100, which works great, but the downside being that it requires charging every now and then. I'd prefer to have something that doesn't require me to switch it on and have my iPhone discover.

I'm not really concerned about using my Iphone for the Ipod function, I'm running my music off of a 16GB flash drive and it's great! I just want to get my Iphone up where I can see it for Nav functions and phone calling. It syncs to my Mini perfectly but I need to get it attached to something where I can see it.

If you read the instructions that are listed on their site you will find that there is no need to drill holes.

Now I will agree that their instructions are rather poor as they do not tell you all the screws that need to be removed but from what i have read from others on this forum they have not removed any screws just given it a good push and it is installed.

Edit: for got to put the link to the instructions - http://www.kudausa.com/manuals/29244...BMW%20Mini.pdf

yes, go to that pdf link that schatzy just posted - the last photo on the page gives you the idea of the mount location (which I think is ideal cause you almost don't even take your eyes off the road).

I did the install according to the instructions - no holes drilled, couple of screws removed - a half-an-hour job. There are absolutely no issues with space.

to bakerjam:
"Does that device automatically pair with your your iPhone when you enter the car?"
yes, it does.

"By the looks of it, I assume it draws its power from the cigarette lighter (aka, doesnt require charging)? "

yes, it does.

"How's the sound quality?"

great for music (at least for me, I have a standard HiFi setup).

not so good for phone calls (the mic is bad), if that's a short conversation - I just shout at it if it's a long one - I switch to my bluetooth earpiece

I really like my ProClip setup. I understand that you don't care about using the iPod function of the device, but this mount option is just about the perfect distance for the MINI y-cable length. It's also centrally-located, for use by either the driver or passenger, and is at a good level, while still being out of direct sunlight (important here in southern arizona).

You don't have to remove any panels to install it, and I also prefer the look of the ProClip to that of the Kuda.

You can see the base in this picture, but keep in mind that with a cradle attached, the phone will ride an inch or two higher.

I have the Kuda dash mount and the Carcomm 3G mount. It pivots to take advantage of the landscape mode, it provides both power and sound input (via the aux port), and it keeps it high for using the nav function. I just need to find a way to hide the cord for power and audio and it would be perfect.

Not cheap, but perfect never is...(click on picture for bigger version)

Yes, I like the placement of the Kuda as opposed to the Proclip, but both systems seem to have their advantages. I have an 09 MCS and it looks to me like the Kuda dash mount would put my Iphone right in front of the vent. I am looking at the Kuda #292445 mount. I'd also like to be able to use the phone horizontally. I understand that both systems have mounting and holding parts. This is why I'm asking for you guys that are already using this stuff for advice. Keep it coming, information is king.
