Audio Upgrade Suggestions

Hey everyone!

First off, I've got a 2009 MCS Hardtop with comfort access and the regular audio system.

Oh, and I generally listen to punk/alternative/indie/jazz. No R&B for me.

I've currently got Focal 165 A1 (per door) installed in the front with a pair of Focal 690 CA1's installed in the rear.

The audio is tapped directly from the stereo into a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.1 and line audio is sent to a Soundstorm F2.1200 (yeah, yeah I know, I was low on cash).

Well, I wanted to ask first off, what do you all think of the line converter? Any recommendations? I've got to replace the 3sixty because of a faulty bluetooth chip, but I've missed having more control over the equalization. Since it's the .1 version, there isn't very much customization that I can do to adjust the audio. I'm pretty fond of analog equalizers (but open to suggestions).

As for the amplifier, I've read very good reviews of the PDX-4. How does it do with heat? Do you all replace the plastic cover under the seat? Does it overheat? I'll probably be running just the fronts and rears off of this amp and I'll use another amp for the sub. Should I use the PDX-5 instead?

I'm also planning on adding the UrbanMini subwoofer box and a sub (obviously, lol) and recycling the current amp. Any considerations or recommendations you all can make (particularly on sub choices)?

Dynamat is also on the list of to-do's.

I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible (college students don't get paid much).

Thanks!

war6763,

I have been running a Alpine PDX-5 under the passenger seat for about 4 weeks now and have had not heat related issues. It is hot but not dangerously hot. The plastic cover is in place as in my clubman as i have people in the back regularly and i don't want sand etc. getting in there to easily.

The 3sixty.2 is a lot better than the 3sixty.1 and works very well for this type of setup. I am not actually using mine right now but during the testing stages i did have it hooked up and it worked well.

Dynamat - Definitely do this

IMHO everything else sounds good to me
