A lot depends on the actual charging circuit in the iPhone. But yes in theory that should be the case. Unfortunately it seems that it works that way for some people but not for others.

I am looking for people in my area that have iPhones for testing but the ATT signal where live is very very very poor, so there are very few people that have ATT and fewer that have iPhones.
