Which size speaker for upper door panels?

I've heard some people say 3 inch fits and others say 4 inch fits, which is it? Which will I have an easier time installing? Which will sound better? These will be run off an after market deck while the 6.5 inch lower door and 6x9's in back will both be powered by an amp.

I'd do components if I were you. Yes, the upper hole will fit a 3.5" speaker but u can put an component tweeter in there with a simple fabrication. I recommend going to a professional if u dont feel comfortable. It's not worth all the hassle if you make beaucoup money.

4" fit fine. I did coaxial speaker but left the tweeter part unplugged since I had tweeters in the A-pillar. (HiFi)

I plan on buying a set of components but was thinking it may sound better to ditch the tweeters out of them and put 4 inch full range speakers in the upper door instead. As far as ability, my fabrication skills should do just fine, money is somewhat of a factor when it comes to install, which is why I will be installing myself, but I won't be skimping on the quality of products I purchase. I am mostly trying to figure out which speaker fits, and whether or not it will sound better this way, or if I should just stick with the tweeter that comes with the components. Opinions?

I would stick with the tweeter rather than a 3"-4" full range as that will not give you as clear highs as the tweeter.

The difference between 3" and 4" fitting is the actual basket size behind the driver. Some 3" are actually rather large on the back side so they can be as large as some other 4" baskets.

I would just go with the 6.5 in the lower door and then make a mounting plate for the tweeter to go in the upper door. If you wanted to get fancy you could even make the tweeter plates angled for better quality of sound.

I suggest you look into a 3-way setup, 6.5 woof in lower door, 4 mid on top, and tweet in the pillar. Its all depends on your cash flow but thats the only way to get the most out of your Mini front stage. If not then ditch the 4" coax...

Look into Rainbow, CDT, Focal has an alright set if your a millionaire
