BMW Nav may be dangerous

Just thought those with the MINI nav might want to be careful when following the route without good visibility :

Driver Led To 100ft Cliff Edge By Sat Nav

It seems like the BMW and MINI would have similar maps. I wouldn't want to be following a route like this at night !

I would not send this dude out to get me milk at the store I'll tell you that.
My TomTom had me leaving the road and turning down some dirt deadend street on Saturday . I was going straight ahead the whole time.

One time my Garmin 350 told me to proceed onto the boardwalk in Atlantic City to get to the hotel . Hey I'm from out of town, but I'm not gonna do everything it says. Several times it's gotten left and right mixed up too.

What ever happened to common sense. That guy is a moron. Guess he did not realize it is a navigational aid, not the gospel of where to go.

Ah, I love British comedy.

Kind of the chap to provide it.

The driver was a 43-year-old man from Doncaster. He has been summonsed to court for driving without due care and attention.
That would be a hearing that would be worth watching.

Same thing happened to me on the factory nav too. I was trying to get to the Taj Mahal and it led me right to the boardwalk. In the nav's defense, normal streets are depicted in red, and the boardwalk was grey.

I have used 4 different makes of Nav units and not one of them was correct in many cases. All of them tell me to take a road that has NEVER been on a map of the city i live in, not even as a proposed road. Where Navtech (the leading provider of digital maps for navigation) gets some of there information is beyond me. I have for 3 years now made requests to them for updating this problem in my city and i keep getting the response back that one of there mapping teams will get out and look at it.

But that does not mean that this guy should have been driving down a FOOT PATH. What an imbicile.

The Taj Mahal is where I was going too. I flew into Philadelphia and rented a car. The Garmin was great, I probably would have gotten lost without it. They're saying as early as next year the satellites may start conking out?

My Garmin Nuvi 360 told me to drive down a bike path. It would have been a shorter route, but I doubt Garmin would pay for the ticket I'd have gotten if I did it...other than that, though, I love my Garmin!

From the quoted article, says it all...........

"It's all well and good trusting your sat nav but how about trusting your eyes and when there's not a road in front of you, don't keep driving."

GPS OK "BUT"

How about a little common sence when using the GPS. You still should at least know a little about where you are going. My 260w Garmin names the street you need to turn onto as well as spells it out on the top of the screen.
If It trys to put me on a path or into a pond I'm sure I would not keep driving before I checked a map or something to make sure it is not trying to get me lost. The :OFFICE VIDEO" is really funny. The guy trying to drive over a fence is just :WRONG: Did he not at least watch where he was going?
