Palm Pre snap-in adapter?

So me being with Sprint I'm pretty excited about the Palm Pre coming out. Everyone is saying that it will be an iphone killer. I was wondering if anyone thinks that they will make a snap-in adapter for the pre? It should be a very big phone, and I was curious. What does everyone think?

Mini/BMW really has to get lots of requests fo something like this to begin making them. many times they have come out with the adapter after the phone is no longer being sold. But they are gettign better about bringing them out sooner.

If you say it is going to be a BIG phone then they very possibly will not come out with an adapter as the phone may not fit inf the required space. I.E. if the phone will not fit in the arm rest then they will not make one.

do you have size specs on the phone yet?

While I am also with Sprint and also looking forward to examining the Pre (its between the Pre and a defection to Verzion for the BB Niagara), I doubt there will be a snap in adapter anytime soon. I know they don't have an adapter for the G1, certainly not for any of the HTC WinMo devices or any of the Nokia smartphones. I don't really think the Pre is going to be able to get above and beyond the market share level that those phones have. Sprint just doesn't seem to have the vigor or the business accumen to stand up to ATT/Apple in a fight against the iPhone. That being said, I do not have the arm-rest docking feature setup so I don't know what is available from MINI at the moment. Do they even have compability with the iPhone? I checked Morristown's accessory site and only saw the upgrade package kit that did not have a list of compatibility to go with it.

The Pre is a make it or break it situation for Sprint. (See their Q1 financial from this morning, OUCH!) Palm/Sprint need to come out with some solid details this week with better pricing than was leaked yesterday through BestBuy. If they don't, they are going to run right up against the rumored iPhone 3.0 release and that will sink the Pre. I really want this phone to be awesome, and priced effectively against the iPhone, but Palm and Sprint have been heavy on hype and little on details for way too long at this point. The devil is in the details.

Edit: As a caveat, I'd never switch to AT&T, ever. But one cannot deny the market appeal and the draw the iPhone has on everyday consumers.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't mean big as in size, I meant being a big seller. The actual phone itself is a tad smaller than the iphone.

I'm really on the fence with sprint. My contract ends in Feb, and I've really considered just ending it and going with someone else. I can't break it as it would cost me $400, so I'll have to wait. The only thing that may keep me in Sprint in the Pre. The reviews of it are amazing. So basically if the Pre falls through, I'll be going with the iphone.

Yep- they have snap-ins for both the original and the 3G iPhones. There's part numbers in the spreadsheet linked in my sig, if anyone would like them.

Schatzy's right though- MINI isn't known for bringing out phone updates in a very reasonable time. Hopefully, if the phone is successful, they would release one eventually. The business case for the iPhones is pretty much a no-brainer. There's still not a snap-in for my Blackberry Curve yet though.

I think the biggest hurdle in getting the snap-in is probably getting the phone on the official approved list in the first place. It doesn't seem like they release a snap-in for something that's not listed there first.
