Bluetooth with NAV Cooper 09 dialing question

I paired my Verizon phone, contact list transferred..no problem and have recieved and made calls. But something doesn't seem right and I don't know how it should work. Here's what happens:

If I press the phone button on the steering wheel, within a couple seconds the phone system starts dialing my last dialed number. I don't get a chance to choose my phone list or anything. My Nav screen changes to phone screen, with the little circle next to my last number dialed highlighted and the phone begins calling that number. Though I wanted to call a different number.

Any suggestions? What should happen when I press the phone button? Confused.

Thanks, Finner.

You have to press the other button (don't remember the picture now), and then give your command. For me (non nav) it's "dial number" and then I say the number or name (if the name is programmed in).

There are some videos at the Mini owner site that can walk you through it.

Thanks Charlie,
I'll definately look at that. I haven't even started looking at voice commands. Before starting on those I wanted to clearly understand and be using it appropriately without voice commands.

Charlie's right, use the other button. With my V3, I just say "call name" with "name" being anything in my phonebook. It finds it in the list, asks me to confirm and then after I say yes, it will dial.

You can use the button with the phone picture to hang up or answer a call. Also when on a call and looking at the telephone display on the nav screen, you can press the joystick to bring up an option for a keypad. Handy when checking your voicemail or any other time you would normally use the keypad on your phone while on a call. Setup your voicemail phone number as an entry in the phone's address book. That will let you voice dial into your mailbox without touching the phone. With the keypad built into the nav and voice dialing, it gives you easy access to your mailbox.

To add to minidriver's comments some (not all) have the ability to put in a code that can be dialed after the number and a pause. This can be used to input the code for your voice mail automatically so that there is not need to dial the code from the nav screen. Not sure if you phoen can do this as you did not tell us what kind of phone it is. but it is worth looking into.

Thanks everyone! Now I get it. I'll use the "voice button" and just use the phone button on the steering wheel for answering or ending.

I didn't bother putting my model phone in my previous message because that is going to change in a couple weeks anyway. Most likely getting Chocolate3 from Verizon when I get around to deciding for sure.

Again, Thanks for explaining.

You're right, although I wasn't clear. The pause and codes to access the mailbox can be put in the phone itself.

The keypad on the Nav screen is useful for selecting 7 or 9, etc after a message. You can roll the selection over to 7 while the message plays so you're ready when it's over.

A Follow-Up Question

So is my Cell working correctly where "if" I do press the "Telephone Button" not the "Speak Button" that it automatically starts to dial the last number dialed?

I understand what your saying about using the other button, the speak button and say who I want to call. Just wonder if it is doing what expected when the "phone button" is pressed....dialing the most recently called number.

Thanks, Finner

Thanks MiniDriver!

When using voice and wanting to say names instead of stating phone number, do I say first and last name? Or Last name stated first and then say first name?

I guess I'm asking best way especially when multiple persons with same last name in my phone book.

Thanks in advance

You need to state them as they are in your phonebook.

I.E.

Mary Jane in phone book say call mary jane

but if jane mary you will need to say call jane mary

Now with that said your phone may be able to switch them for you to last, first or first last. that all depends on the phone.

Great Thanks!

Not worried about current phone. I'll look at that in a few weeks when I order a new phone.

Thanks!
