Mac-formatted iPod Touch Not Working with Y-cables

Hey - I'm a relatively new MINI owner and recent PC-to-Mac switcher. I have a 2009 Cooper with the Y-cable interface into the Audio In and USB.

When the iPod Touch was formatted for Windows, it worked fine with the Y-cable.

But when I reformatted the iPod Touch for the Mac, the MINI now just shows the message "External Audio Device" or something like that with a graphic of the iPod, but doesn't allow me to control or listen to the iPod anymore.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there anything I can do to get a Mac-formatted iPod Touch working with the MINI? I'm thinking that other Mac users have not had this issue...any help is appreciated!

Have you tried resetting your iPod?

That got it. Seems a bit obvious in retrospect, but I'll admit that hadn't even occurred to me. Thanks!
