09 Clubman - jack replacement for iPod and Bluetooth Problems
NAM Members,
Happy Motoring! I have a 09 Clubman with the Bluetooth / iPod upgrade. I have been experiencing (2) problems lately:
1. My MA is replacing the "Jack" for the iPod USB and Aux plugs [below the console]. My iPod has a tendency to lose its connection and through a series of testing, we believe its the actual Jack Box that is failing.
2. I have losing my Bluetooth connection every now and then; not sure if there is a connection between this and my problem described above?
Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

There definitely could be a connection between these two problems. The Bluetooth ULF module is also the same module that controls the USB and AUX input on your car.
From experience i doubt that the problem is the actual Jack assembly. Although if the connections are intermittent then that could be the problem with the USB connection. But that in itself should not cause a bluetooth problem.
Let us know if that fixes the problem

Hi schatzy62,
I hope all is well with you. Yes, I believe there is a connection. Thankfully, my MA is awesome and is willing to do whatever is needed to get this fixed. I was able to figure this out by driving a loaner with the same specs as my car for 2 days; not a single problem during the time I had it.
Let's see if this does the trick; I'll definitely keep you posted.
Regards,

I have issues with USB losing connection as well. I only use USB sticks, not Ipod. It will occasionally skip to the next track in the middle of a song. Even more occasionally (like once or twice a week) it will lose connection totally and I will have to unplug and then replug the usb key. Haven't taken it in yet.
I have no problems with Bluetooth but don't use it much.

Okay - apparently after a week [yes a week] of whatever they do to figure this stuff out, they have determined it's my 80 GB iPod.
They believe this is because they [finally] experimented with my iPod in an equal Clubman and eventually the same problems started. As such, my MA and I have agreed to the following:
1. I will try another iPod for a few days in my Clubman. If no problems show, then its definitely my iPod.
2. If however, the same problems show, my MA has agreed to completely replace the entire iPod wiring / components. This sounds sensible, as I don't want them tearing out stuff if it's not required.
Let's see how it does......

MCCSAB,
Did you guys try using a new cable too? The reason I ask is a while back I thought my IPOD was broken since it would not charge, and it turned out the cable was shot. I replaced it, and it started charging again.

Kimbo80,
Yes, that was actually the first thing I tried because apparently MINI has had big problems with the cables; very poor quality.
I wish it was the cables; it would have simplified my problems.
I appreciate the response!

I have been having a similar issue with my 2009 MINI Cooper S. I have a pretty old Ipod 20GB, which worked the first day I got the car. Then it got to the point where it would only charge but the Ipod option in the menu came up. Finally it stopped charging all together and would only play audio if I selected AUX.
I took it to the dealer and after a few days of working on it, they just told me they have narrowed it down to the ipod/bluetooth control module and are ordering a new part. I asked them twice to make sure that it's not my Ipod, and I also tried a USB stick and a friend's Ipod Touch. All had the same symptoms.
They did first try to replace the cable and it started working briefly, but then stopped again. I also have been using the bluetooth with my blackberry storm and it has been working the whole time without a problem. I hope this control module replacement does fix it. Just wanted to share my results so far.
